Cancer Treatment Centers of America Selects Goodyear Property as Site for its Western Regional Hospital Facility to Offer World-Class Cancer Treatment and Economic Benefit to West Valley
CHICAGO – July 30, 2007. Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) announced today that it is in the process of finalizing an agreement with EJM Development and the City of Goodyear, Arizona to build a new 210,000-square-foot cancer hospital south of Interstate 10 between Litchfield Rd. and Bullard Ave. The facility will be the fourth CTCA hospital and will provide cancer patients in the West easier access to its trademark Patient Empowerment Medicinesm model of comprehensive, patient-centered cancer treatment. CTCA currently has hospitals located in Suburban-Chicago, Philadelphia and Tulsa, as well as an outpatient facility in Seattle.
“We are thrilled that we will be able to provide care at a facility closer to our patients living throughout the western United States,” said Robert Mayo, vice chairman of the board for CTCA. 'On average, our patients are traveling more than 500 miles one way to treat at our hospitals. So, our patients have asked us to build hospitals closer to where they live. This new facility in Goodyear will help our patients eliminate some of the stress associated with traveling so they can focus on beating their disease.”
According to Mayo, “This facility will add more than $500 million into the local economy over the first five years.” He said the new hospital will create 260 jobs in its opening year. Within three years, CTCA projects the new hospital will grow to approximately 420 medical and administrative staff members. “”We look forward to building on the professional and positive relationship we have with the City of Goodyear as we move this project forward.”

Construction on the new cancer hospital is expected to begin in October 2007 with a January 2009 opening anticipated. CTCA at Western Regional Medical Center will initially include approximately 25 in-patient rooms, ICU rooms and surgical suites, state-of-the-art radiation and infusion therapy departments capable of treating 150 patients per day, an on-site, out-patient clinic, rehabilitation and physical therapy, and on-site residential accommodations for out-patients and their families.
